Mildly Off the Wall Kicks Off First Season with
A Night of Comedy October 10th at The Granada

October 6, 2008

The Lawrence sketch comedy series Mildly Off the Wall marks the launch of its inaugural season with Mildly Off the Wall: A Night of Comedy at 8 p.m. Friday, October 10th at The Granada Theater.

The evening features stand up comedy performances by cast members Sean Hall, Emily Herrman, and newcomer Zach White, followed by an encore screening of the program's pilot episode.

"Since we didn't premiere the pilot until after most students had left town for the summer, this is the first time many people are hearing about it," said Scott Winer, the show's creator and Senior Producer. "With a new freshman class and the full student body back in Lawrence, we have a great opportunity to reach out to a much larger audience."

Mildly Off the Wall premiered June 27th at The Granada Theater and screened July 12th at Henry's Upstairs. The pilot has been available online since mid-July.

Created and produced by students at The University of Kansas and members of the local community, the first episode was shot entirely on location in Lawrence. The show will continue that trend for future episodes and is currently accepting online applications through its website for people interested in joining its cast and crew.

"We're all about having new people to come in and contribute right away," Winer said. "The point of continuing the show was to open it up as a platform, especially for students, to get experience with the creative and technical sides of comedy and television. The key is making sure people know that this outlet exists."

Mildly Off the Wall is a presentation of Scott Winer Productions. Scott Winer, the Senior Producer of Mildly Off the Wall, directs. Rowdy Wichman is Supervising Producer. Kris Beckland produces. Sean Hall is Director of Photography.

The pilot episode stars Brian Ervin, Sean Hall, Dave Harvey, Heather Hill, Ryan Hultgren and Rowdy Wichman with Lauren Bornstein and Emily Herrman. Featured players are Paul Gottsch, Paul Peach, Elena Sherman and Chelsie Shipley.

Mildly Off the Wall: A Night of Comedy is presented by The Pita Pit.
